Jason Placke

Attorney at Law

Biography

Jason Placke, a native Louisianan who works in Baron & Budd’s Baton Rouge, Louisiana office, knew by the time he was 8 years old that one day he would be a lawyer.  As he listened to his Uncle Allan and Great Uncle Edgar talk with passion about the opportunities they had as lawyers to help people and right wrongs, he felt that same passion and commitment grow in him.

“For many people, what they want to do as a career will change many times,” Jason said. “I have never wanted to do anything else but practice law and consider myself very lucky to be fulfilling that lifelong goal and dream.”

Early on, Jason clerked for a number of district judges in Ouachita and Morehouse Parishes, seeing all sorts of criminal and civil cases.  He clerked for Judge James Boddie, researching many of the legal issues that arose on the judge’s active asbestos docket.

At the court, Jason learned how mesothelioma and other asbestos-related diseases devastated Louisiana families, and he heard how the asbestos manufacturers ignored the risks their products created for workers.  The stories he heard lead him to the Baton Rouge-based law firm LeBlanc and Waddell, where he was able to be part of a team committed to helping people injured by exposure to asbestos and other harmful substances.  Now at Baron & Budd, Jason continues to live his dream every day by making a difference in his client’s lives.

Jason loves that, as a lawyer, he learns something new every day.  But that desire to learn is not confined to his legal practice.  Jason is quite a World War II and Military history buff, always looking to expand his knowledge.  Jason also likes to hunt, fish and hear live music—especially if it involves a trip to the New Orleans French Quarter!
